La Habra Heights is a small, hilltop city in Los Angeles County, California, positioned on the border with Orange County just north of Fullerton and La Habra. Its roughly 5,700 residents are spread across about six square miles of rolling hills, canyons, and ridgelines in the Puente Hills foothills. The city incorporated in 1978 specifically to preserve the rural, residential atmosphere that had defined the area since its early development, and that founding intent continues to shape nearly every aspect of life there. This is an unusual profile for a city embedded in one of the nation's largest metropolitan areas. Practically, residents rely on the adjacent cities of La Habra, Whittier, and Hacienda Heights for shopping, services, and freeway access, while schools are provided by neighboring districts. The trade-off is deliberate: La Habra Heights offers seclusion and space a short drive from Orange County and the San Gabriel Valley. It suits households seeking an equestrian or semi-rural lifestyle without leaving the Los Angeles region, and it remains one of the area's most distinctive low-density enclaves.
